Design and Project Process

Each project is as unique as the home it encompasses. Below is a brief outline of the design and project process. This is only a baseline and most projects will demand more time in certain focus areas to ensure the best result is delivered to meet your desired outcome.

1. First Appointment (1.5-2 hours)

Erin Sisson Design recommends meeting at your home for the initial consultation.

  • What do you love?

  • What is your style?

  • What are your "must haves?"

You will be probably be asked to do "homework" prior to this first meeting to gather inspiration photos and ideas to help us best achieve your vision.

At this meeting, we hope to help discover, direct, and refine your own style into a feasible goal. All responsible parties must attend so that important project directives can be considered during the design phase.

2. Design Conceptualization (2-4 weeks)

Following the initial appointment, we will detail desired changes, scope of the project, and impact the surrounding areas to begin design conceptualization. This process helps to decrease transitions and alterations to the plan later on.

Budget, function, and style are all integral parts of the design conceptualization. The goal here is to find balance with the differing elements to formulate a design plan with feasibility and accuracy.

By the end of design conceptualization, you can expect to have a viable design plan with thoughtful consideration of both your style and the space's feasibility.

3. Proposed Project Plan (1-2 hours)

At this meeting, you are presented with a proposal of recommendations for your design concept.

These concepts are discussed and considered by all responsible parties.

Material selections, colors, and textural elements are discussed and examples are provided.

If the scope of work is to be done in phases, project prioritization is established at this meeting.

Measuring Fabrics

4. Measurements & Product Selection(s) (2-4 weeks)

This is where in depth project specifications begin. A team of 1-2 persons comes and performs on-site measurements to verify with blueprints so that we have an accurate depiction of the home details. These dimensions are input to a CAD program.

After design conceptualization is agreed upon confirming materials viability, we begin making materials selections with various materials vendors for your project. These selections are selected to suit your style mode and/or specific requests.

Erin Sisson Design has accounts and access to trade only resources such as  fabrics, furnishings, glass installations, commissioned fine art, custom iron work, and green building materials.
